Learning.
Learning happens in several organized ways during a farm school day. The first is Know and Tell Time, based on Karen Glass’ principles of narration, which is our weekly practice in communication and listening skills. Next we dive into life skills through a hands-on teaching project in woodwork, gardening, handicrafts, compass navigation, animal processing, canning and preserving, and more!
Land.
Our new location for the 2023-2024 school year is a private, gated micro farm located in East San Diego County in the Flinn Springs area. The farm boasts beautiful mature oaks, seasonal creek, green house, play structures, and of course…farm animals. There is plenty of room to explore and enjoy the great out doors within the safety of the farm grounds.
Animals.
A variety of animals live on the farm that students help care for as they learn basic skills in animal husbandry. We currently have chickens, ducks, breeding rabbits, turkeys and of course…a plethora of other natural wildlife such as native birds and lizards! The bunnies and ducks are definitely student favorites!
