Farm Features…

  • Land.

Our new location for the 2023-2024 school year is a private, gated micro farm located in East San Diego County in the Flinn Springs area. The farm boasts beautiful mature oaks, seasonal creek, green house, play structures, and of course…farm animals. There is plenty of room to explore and enjoy the great out doors within the safety of the farm grounds.

  • Learning.

Although organic learning occurs every day on the farm, our Farm School schedule includes organized and intentional teaching times. Students gather around for half and hour teaching times and then are dismissed to their hands-on activities.

  • Animals.

A variety of animals live on the farm that students help care for as they learn basic skills in animal husbandry. We currently have chickens, ducks, breeding rabbits, turkeys and of course…a plethora of other natural wildlife such as native birds and lizards! The bunnies and ducks are definitely student favorites!

  • Garden.

Students have an opportunity to maintain their own flower, fruit and vegetable garden. Throughout the semester we learn about what is in season, when to harvest, and how to care for the garden.

  • Creativity.

Creativity and artistic expression are always encouraged! During free time, art in the form of water color or other handcraft will always be available. We realize the outdoors often inspires the little artists within!

  • Fun

    Fun.

There are several play areas on the farm including swings and a play structure with a ropes course. During free time, students are encouraged to enjoy treasured time of PLAY, as they make even more memories together outdoors!

  • Outdoor Art Studio

At Gathered We Grow, we believe in a dynamic, living education full of rich, natural beauty. And that includes art! But we also know that art can land on the back burner. We believe an integral part of learning is through re-creation – whether that be through narration and the art of forming words and retelling a story or through art. When a student creates or re-creates an image or idea through art, they transfer that concept from their short-term memory to their long-term memory. Art is an incredibly valuable educational tool for learning acquisition. With the skills learned through our courses, students will build confidence in eventually creating self-directed art using a multitude of mediums that they will be able to further carry with them into their life of education. Think about it for a second…can you remember an art project you did in school all those years ago? I’m guessing at least a few come to mind! Our desire is to encourage and, for some, re-introduce art as a key educational tool.

We get it – art is messy! And we realize many home educated students may not enjoy much of an art or art history education. Who really wants that all over the kitchen table? So let us take this subject off your plate in our beautiful, private outdoor art studio space. Click below to send us an email to check our availability. Spaces are limited to 6 students per session.
